What is the CalGovHR Workplace Investigations Institute?

Uniquely developed by CalGovHR, California’s leading and premier organization dedicated to the support of public sector and nonprofit HR professionals and their career growth, the Workplace Investigations Institute offers an in-depth training and “hands on” training experience for those who are interested in learning the different aspects of workplace investigations, including an overview of the investigations process, the difference between Discrimination/Harassment investigations and those into misconduct, how to prepare for the investigation, conducting interviews, gathering evidence, and drawing factual conclusions.  There will be plenty of hands-on experience to help you practice what you learn during a mock investigation where you will take on the role of the investigator.

As a “uniquely CalGovHR” program, our Institute faculty was carefully selected based upon their legal/HR experience and expertise, and they offer both the technical and practical knowledge needed to succeed as a public sector HR professional.  In addition, this program offers a unique mock workplace investigations experience, where attendees will gain “hands on” experience working as the investigator.  The faculty consists of attorneys with many years of experience who will work with attendees in small groups to take part in the mock investigation, so you will walk away with an “almost real life” experience to gain a complete understanding of how workplace investigations really work.  Throughout the training, there will also be other small group exercises where attendees can practice their interviewing skills, reviewing evidence, and drawing factual conclusions.

The Institute offers three days of consecutive and intensive training on virtually all topics related to workplace investigations. In addition, there will be plenty of opportunities for “hands on” experience, as you will be working in small groups alongside our experienced faculty. Plus, enjoy the professional networking to connect with your classmates and faculty in a fun, encouraging and supportive learning environment!
